Investigation Properties of Pervious and Water-Retaining Recycled Concrete to Mitigate Urban Heat Island Phenomena

The urban heat island (UHI) effect poses significant challenges to environmental quality and public health. Over the decades, research efforts have been made develop various UHI mitigation strategies, including pavement materials, such as, water-retentive pavement, reflective pervious concrete. This paper focuses on improvement of hygric water retention properties concrete mitigate phenomena. hydric hygroscopic tests were carried out under dry wet conditions four different concretes, where natural aggregates replaced with recycled at mass percentages. results show a in these by increasing amount incorporated mixtures. mixes from alone showed an absorption that reached 75 L more than control one cubic meter condition. With upwelling capacity up 30 kg retained square condition, improvements performance represent this permeable as solution for mitigation. Regarding mechanical properties, decrease 50% compressive strength was noted only when 100% aggregate incorporated, remaining 20 MPa other
